I don’t know bout the rest of you, but I find it a little ungreatful of fans to bitch about Portal 2 saying that aspects of the game are off-putting. What aspects? Seriously, the game isn’t even released yet and you’re pre-complaining about it. I know that this is always a common thing to encounter in any game’s fan base, it just really gives me the shits. There are going to be bad aspects to ANY game, however moaning about it on the Steam forums or on Kotaku makes you look like a bunch of selfish gits.

Sigh…. Monsters.

Besides that, the new features to the game look impressive. I can imagine them in gameplay will be sweet. As for Wheatly, he is amazing – apart from GLaDOS of course. The animation of how he moves, his personality is completely created only using the robotic eye’s blinks and turning, but it fits the character so well. This probably looks like I’m just sucking up to Valve, but personally (and truthfully) I see no problems with these new features in the game. There needs to be a change in gameplay/dynamics, it’s the only way the Portal series can evolve. If they kept it the same, we’d Have Portal: Still, Still Alive.

Anyway, raise a glass of neurotoxin completely harmless beverages to Valve for making a good impression of Portal 2.

How To Destroy Angels EP

Don’t worry, it took me until yesterday to find out that Trent Renzor had made a new side project. How To Destroy Angels is a 3 piece band consisting of Trent Renzor (vocalist and composer for Nine Inch Nails) himself, his wife Mariqueen Maandig (was lead vocalist for West Indian Girl) and Atticus Ross (musician, composer and producer who worked with Renzor on With Teeth, Year Zero, Ghosts I-IV and The Slip).

The band released How To Destroy Angels (a self titled EP) on the 1st of June (2nd of June for us Australians and everyone else on the opposite side of the world) which is currently available for free on their website. The EP consists of 6 tracks:

A Space In Between
Parasite
Fur Lined
BBB
The Believers
A Drowning

Being a fan of Renzor’s work with Nine Inch Nails made listening to How To Destroy Angels an unexplainable involuntary life sustaining need.

Yesterday was the day I heard of this band, I was over at James’ house when he informed me that Trent Renzor had a new band. He showed me their home page and loaded up the video for A Space In Between (I highly recommend anyone who liked/likes the Nine Inch Nails music videos to check it out, beware, there is a ‘what the fuck’ factor to the video). That’s when that unexplainable involuntary life sustaining need begun to occur.

As soon as I got home, I downloaded the free EP and listened to it straight away. Happily loading them onto my iPod/iTunes I started playing the songs to hear the rest of A Space In Between. So far, I have listened to the EP over five times today.

If you loved the previous four Nine Inch Nails albums you will be pleased to hear that How To Destroy Angels is no exception. No doubt there is a heavy influence of Nine Inch Nails sound in the songs however Maandig’s vocals creates something entirely different. Her vocals are quite unique and fit the songs perfectly.

I’m not quite the critic or reviewer on how music should sound or expressing much detail on how well the EP is, however I am just putting my two cents on what I though and hopefully making the point of this post to urge people to listen to them.
